The Leadership Team
Founder & Managing Principal
George Akirtava founded ELIT Group with a vision of building a fully integrated real estate development company capable of identifying opportunities long before they become obvious to the market.
Drawing upon more than a decade of real estate development experience and an extensive background in private banking and wealth management, George leads the firm’s investment strategy, acquisitions, finance, capital relationships, entitlement process, and overall project execution.
Prior to founding ELIT Group, George built his financial career with leading institutions including JPMorgan Chase, Wells Fargo, and Amerant Bank, where he advised high-net-worth clients and developed expertise in investment analysis, financing structures, and institutional banking relationships. This financial foundation provides ELIT Group with a unique perspective when evaluating development opportunities and structuring projects for long-term success.
George has successfully led numerous development, redevelopment, and historic renovation projects throughout Florida and Louisiana. His strength lies in recognizing overlooked opportunities, assembling experienced teams, navigating complex entitlement processes, and transforming challenging sites into successful real estate developments.
George holds a Master of Business Administration from Tulane University and previously maintained FINRA Series 7 and Series 63 securities licenses.
Architecture and Design
Javier Barrera is an expert in Architecture and Design, leading these areas of the business. Clients continue to work with Javier for his proven ability to look beyond a building’s exterior to see not what it is, but what it has the potential to become. And with over 15 years of real-world experience he has the perfect balance of creativity and pragmatism, giving the company a distinct competitive advantage.
Prior to founding ELIT Group, Javier founded Deforma Studio, an architectural firm that has successfully completed many multi-million dollar commercial and residential projects in Miami and South Florida. Javier received a Bachelor of Architecture at Lehigh University and a Master of Architecture from the University of Pennsylvania. He is a licensed architect in the states of Florida and Louisiana.
